The spiral looper is pivotal in welded pipe production lines and cold-bent steel and pickling production lines. This essential equipment stores strip steel, allowing the production line to shear and weld the tail of one roll and the head of the next without interruptions, ensuring seamless operation.
Scope of Application
The spiral looper is ideal for ordinary carbon steel materials such as galvanized, bright, cold-hardened, zinc-aluminum-magnesium, and black belt. Its diameter is tailored based on the thickness of the raw material strip steel and the customer’s site dimensions. The sizes of the outer and inner cages are determined by the width of the strip steel.
Working Principle
The welded pipe unit’s spiral loop progresses through various stages: flat roller, angle adjustment frame, five-roll straightening, two-roller clamp, spiral loop, high turning tower, and finally into the welded pipe unit. When the strip enters the inlet channel, filling is active; the feeding clamp roller sends the strip into the loop for storage, making discharge passive. The discharge speed matches the forming machine’s speed, ensuring the loop’s discharge and filling are independent, supporting continuous production.
Equipment Specifications
Equipment dimensions are based on customer location, strip width, and thickness. The hopper stores and discharges materials to guarantee the main machine’s continuous operation. The number of storage circles in the loop is fixed. During coil change, uncoiling, shearing, and butt welding, feeding into the loop halts. Material near the outer cage is pressed against the inner cage one circle at a time to ensure continuous discharge. When butt-welding the steel strip, the loop fills at 2-3 times the welding pipe’s speed, pressing material against the outer cage until full. At this synchronization stage, filling speed equals the welding pipe speed, ensuring continuous feeding of the unit.
Looper Advantages
- Simple and Reasonable Design: Ensures reliability.
- No Off-Track Steel Belt Loop: Maintains consistency.
- No Loose Circles: Guarantees stability.
- Large Storage Capacity: Accommodates production needs.
- High Productivity: Enhances efficiency.
- Variable Frequency Speed Regulation for Feeding: Allows precise control.
The spiral looper’s primary function is to store more materials and prevent scratches and creases on the strip steel, boosting production capacity and finished product rates. It prepares for steel pipe sizing, ensuring continuous operation without stops, significantly increasing production. As an auxiliary device for welding pipe lines, photovoltaic lines, and seismic support production lines, it can be customized to fit customer site sizes.
